Dreams Can Come True

"Mmmmmm"  Zoe moaned trying to warn her boyfriend. He ignored her and for his pains found himself suddenly on the wrong end of a stream of urine.

"That's it!" He roared and threw a box of latex gloves across the room. "I'm done! I've tried to be patient, I've cleaned up your shit, I've worked long hours and now I'm done! You should be dead! We should kill people like you!" He stormed out of her room. Zoe sighed to herself. This wasn't the first time he'd said these things and he'd stopped apologizing for them.

8 Years ago when they'd first met she'd thought Rick was the man of her dreams. Tall and handsome who apparently hadn't cared about the genetic wasting disease she had. Back then she'd been in a manual wheelchair, she could control her bodily functions and talk. As her disease progressed she'd lost the ability to do those tasks and Rick had been there to care for her, to work 6 days a week at two different jobs to pay for the expenses involved. But as the years had gone by she'd watched him slowly get embittered. She had known it would happen her aunt and cousin who also were afflicted had told her it would, but her aunt had said he'd be mad at the illness. But he always acted like it was her personal fault. And it wasn't even like she had a choice anymore. She couldn't talk to phone her parents, her computer, with it's eyegaze technology, was on her wheelchair which she couldn't reach and which Rick mostly left turned off, she was completely helpless. She heard  the front door slam as Rick stormed out. He would take a walk around the block and then come back. So she lay there waiting.

She was still waiting as the sun went down.

 30 HOURS LATER:

For Jason it was a normal shift. Meaning he'd been up for the past 19 hours straight running calls for  American Emergency Medic Response. His long term goal, Paramedic on a Fire Department Ambulance in the nearby large city wasn't coming to fruition to quickly and he was currently in a holding pattern. They were sitting "At Post" a centralized location near a freeway on ramp so they could head in any direction to respond to their calls quickly. Really they should have been back at their station for some dinner and sleep hours ago but they were here in a parking lot under an overpass watching a drug deal. It wasn't really AEMR's fault, after all they hadn't expected a 4 vehicle accident on the highway just on their side of the county line with all 4 patients wanting to go to the hospital. So yes unfortunately today was unusually busy which meant sleep would have to wait.

The Computer Aided Dispatch Terminal started chirping. A rapid urgent chirp informing them of an emergency response. The note under the call specified that they were heading on a welfare check with the Town of Little Oak Fire and Police Departments. His partner pulled a pair of nitrate gloves from the box on the dash and threw the empty cardboard container against the back wall of the cab. "Fuck this" she spat at the computer.

Jason ignored her. She was in the midst of a burnout phase and he needed to focus on driving.

They rolled down the street. A pair police cars were parked discreetly in the driveway of the house. In front of the house was the massive ladder truck lights blinking. Jason rolled his eyes at the curious neighbors poking their heads out of doors.  Discretion was clearly not one of Little Oak Fire Department's Strong suits. He pulled past the fire truck so they could take the stretcher up the driveway and up the wheelchair ramp in front of the house. He got out of the ambulance. His partner opened the side compartment and pulled out the Paramedic Bag. The Fire Department had all the other equipment they might possibly need. The majority of the time on these calls they were unfounded. But you always needed to be ready. Jason walked over to the lead firefighter who was talking with an old woman.

"What's up?" he asked.

"Neighbor called, said the homeowner"

"Tenant" said the neighbor

"Tenant" Said the Firefighter, "left and hasn't seen a disabled woman who..."

The neighbor interrupted again. "He peeled out like a bat out of hell and I haven't seen him since, and there's that poor dear crippled girl who lives there and I haven't seen her for DAYS."

One of the police officers wandered around and said "All the lights are off but I thought I saw someone asleep on a bed..."

"Did you see a wheelchair?" the neighbor demanded.

"Why?" The Officer asked

"Oh my God." Said Jason's partner "Answer her so we can close this call and go to bed."

"Here here." Murmured the firefighter.

"Yes." The officer snarled. "Yes I did, happy?"

The neighbor spun on Jason. "You see! She doesn't go anywhere without the wheelchair! I know she's in there. Also the van's in the garage!"

The Officer opened his mouth to protest but one of the firefighters came jogging around the house. He stopped long enough to say "Bob and I managed to get the back window screen off and force up the window with a Halligan and there's a real strong..." He looked at the neighbor "Smell of bodily functions so I think we should force entry. I'm going to get the ax now."

The Halligan, a long steel combination crowbar and driving wedge, was wedged into the door between the knob and the deadbolt, and then the curved hook end was hit with the butt of an ax. The door snapped open on the 3rd hit and they all piled inside.

Jason's patient was very attractive. At least to him. He fought back an erection and stepped up next to the table. He gently shook her shoulder with a gloved hand. "Miss can you hear me?"

She moaned, dried spittle on her face cracking. Dried feces was caked on her lower extremities and the old urine smell was overpowering. She blinked a couple times at him.

"Whats your name." Another moan. 'Goddamnit' Jason thought 'She's vegetative. Why can't a girl be like this and mentally alert?' One of the firefighters came back. "Found this on the fridge."

It was a "LIFE FILE." It was a folder with a list of medical history, medications, and allergies. The medical history was short and too the point. Handwritten were the words "Gregory-Parker Syndrome. Muscle wasting disease." There were a couple other generic medical historys as well like asthma.

Jason's partner swore and disappeared  to get the cot. Jason directed one of the firefighters to help her and then asked if anyone wanted to help him clean her up. The other firefighter gave him a funny look but helped him log roll the patient.

Zoe bit back the cries of pain as the two men's rough hands inside their gloves rolled her. The Paramedic used wipes that were sitting on the table to wipe her off. She gasped as the dried mess on her bottom came away leaving raw red skin behind. The Firefighter meanwhile dragged the soiled sheet off the table and dumped it on the floor. She heard a bang in the direction of the door and muffed cursing then the grumpy female EMT appeared. She felt another sheet, this one rough and thick, against her back then they gently lowered her onto it. She heard the male paramedic telling his partner to put a chux bed pad down on the stretcher then they pulled her over. Another blanket covered her and she was taken outside to the ambulance.

Outside Jason started two IVs, one in each arm to replenish her fluids. Because she couldn't talk to them he didn't know how long she'd been there without liquids. Jason's partner slammed her way out of the unit and he rapidly ran a 12 lead, vernacular for analyzing the electrical patterns of the heart, then got the rest of his vitals. They set off for Saint Giles' Hospital without lights or sirens. Jason made sure he talked to her and told her what he was doing then called in his report to the hospital.

"Med 4 to Saint Giles Emergency, we are coming to you with a patient in her mid 20s. The patient has a history of Gregory-Parker Syndrome and has significant nuero/muscular disabilities. Her chief complaint is dehydration and possible skin infections. Per Little Oak PD and witnesses on scene she was abandoned by her caretaker approximately 2 days ago. I have bilateral 20 gauge IVs running with normal saline. Vitals are as follows; BP: 87/53, Pulse: 114, Respirations: 16. SPO2: 97% on Room air. 12 lead shows sinus tach. Our ETA is about 10 minutes any questions?"

"Room assignment upon arrival." And the nurse signed off. Jason signed off as well and looked back at the patient.

Zoe appreciated the Paramedic spening the trip reassuring her. While most people treated her like she was mentally disabled he acted like she was a normal adult patient. They were at the hospital before she knew it. There were a couple nurses and a bored looking doctor and she watched him as he gave the report to them, then wished her good luck, and disappeared.

Jason finished his report and walked out to the garage to remount the computer. He'd been deep in thought the whole time. His partner was snoring in the other bunk as he racked out. But sleep refused to come, all he could think about was Zoe.

Quad For Life AUTHOR'S NOTE

Just a brief note on Quad For Life. It's still in the works but it could be a while before I get to the next part. Stay tuned
Quad For Life: Chapter One
Alex Douglas Sr. glared at his son. He'd tried shrinks, religious people, blind dates, everything he could think of and it was no good. His son still accessed strange websites devoted to pornography of disabled women. Douglas had an idea. However unlike when he'd discovered his son's weird fetish Douglas had an Ace in the Hole. The downside was that Alex might actually preform the opposite of how he wanted him too. Finally he said to his son, who was sitting there trying not to cry, "If I get you a job, can you behave appropriately? As in if you don't I take you to prison?"

"Well yes." Said Alex Jr. "But what is it?"

"You will be caretaker to a young woman who has a serious disability. But remember if you act sexually irresponsibly I personally will take you to jail. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir."

"Good."

Alex sat next to his dad wondering what it was. It was probably a woman with a brain injury who was a total vegetable. He'd probably wind up changing diapers to children's TV shows. His dad and mother hated his fetish and had tried for years to uproot it. Now his dad was bringing in the big guns. Getting him a job changing diapers and feeding someone. Sometimes his life sucked.

Amanda lay on her back facing the ceiling. The TV silent but her clock radio was playing an audiobook. She was a skinny petite young woman with pale skin. Her legs had been amputated at the waist and her upper right arm had been amputated at shoulder level. She still had enough of her left arm to use as a prop and assist. She could use it to attach a prosthetic but she disliked them. She felt useless, unloved, and vegetative. To make matters worse it was her primary care nurses day off.  She lived in a first floor condo owned by her father while her sister lived several stories up. But she had kids to take care of so she couldn't be down here taking care of her. Amanda thought about getting some sleep but realized she was too awake. She was nude except for a diaper. Her sister had done enough already changing her and feeding her breakfast. Besides even though Mr. Douglas was very nice there was no point in trying to impress a middle aged police detective who was happily married with kids. She felt very close, the sort of father daughter relationship her own father had never felt like giving her and had given her even less of since the accident.

There was a knock on the door and then Mr. Douglas entered. She smiled at him. Underneath the friendliness he'd always displayed there had been guilt. She didn't understand why but it was there. hiding a sigh she said "Hello Mr. Douglas how are you?"

"I'm fine thank you. You remember how you said you were looking for a companion and casual carer?"

"Yes have you found one?"

"Yes my son. I think this job would be perfect."

"Wonderful where is he?"

"Outside. I'll bring him in and you can interview him."

She was suspicious. Mr Douglas would've brought him in the day after he learned about the job. Probably his son had thought it over or just lost another job. She mentally prepared and wished that she'd gotten her sister to put a top on her. Mr Douglas introduced himself and disappeared she looked at Alex and said "Well why do you want this job?"

Alex was stunned. As a smaller guy he'd never felt as much romantic pull toward a curvier or taller women. His tastes ran toward the petite women. However like most straight men his age he's willingly have sex with any woman the woman in front of him appealed to the part of his sexual preferences his father understood but mostly to the parts he didn't.

Alex was primarily into Acrotomophilia and had spent hours... enjoying quadruple amputees in online ES. But now a real life one was in front of him and as his father left she started to ask questions in a smooth high voice.

Alex answered. "It seemed interesting." etc. etc. etc. Finally she glared at him and asked "Why do you have an erection?" And Alex felt his face get red hot. Then she smiled and nodded. "I think you'll do. Can you do live in work? I've got a very limited budget from my father and if I could provide you room and board I can pay you less." And that was how Alex Douglas got the job of his dreams.

Quad for Life: Prologue

WARNING: This post contains descriptions of sex and traumatic injury. If you don't want to read about when the injury occurred you can skip the prologue.

The Police Officer, Alex Douglas (Sr.), observed a man grabbing a young woman and shove her into the back of his car. When Alex had turned his lights and siren on the car the driver had taken off through the raining streets of the city. As Alex had started to gain on the car the driver took a risk and took a blind turn then ran a red light. The fleeing car slammed into the side of an empty city bus.

Later investigation determined that the suspect was not wearing a seatbelt. The airbag crushed his crotch, and lower chest while hist legs snapped under the wheel. The kidnappers head slammed into the windshield killing him instantly.

The young woman in the back was trapped by the front and back seats. Her body was twisted breaking her arms in several places each while her legs were wrapped through and around the seat in front destroying the muscles and bones. Alex was first on the scene and later as the emergency crews pulled the girl from the car guilt raked his heart.

Further investigation decided that Alex wasn't to blame for the accident. But nothing could convince Alex that he wasn't partially to blame for the young woman's injuries.

First day of School: Part One

It was my first day in Technical School. I'd taken a year off between high school and college working as a full time maintenance man at the Anders & Goodwin Department Store Chain. Now I was back, going for a degree in Business. I was going to Tech School because it was cheeper. Looking around campus at the student body I could see why.

My first class was "Art and Popular Culture." Surprisingly the lab designed was full of people when I arrived. The teacher was a bit of a control freak because there was a seating chart. Jackson (me) was placed next to "Samantha." I dropped my backpack on the floor next to my chair, pulled out my laptop, and dropped my windbreaker over the back of the chair. As I sat I noticed there was no chair in the spot next to me. The rest of the students filed in and I bent over my textbook when a voice spoke next to me. "Could you move your backpack?"

I jumped. Next to me a woman, about 20, was seated in a motorized wheelchair. She had brown curly hair, a nice round face, enormous breasts, and a small round belly. I said "Sure" or something, bent over, and looked at her legs for a fraction of a second. She was wearing yoga pants and there were braces pushing out under the fabric. I moved the backpack and she parked in the space next to me. I barely noticed first half of the class. The professor droned on and I kept trying not to look over at "Samantha."

The Professor called break and I headed out. I used the bathroom and then came back to the classroom. Samantha's car was empty. Then I saw her. She was on forearm crutches coming back from the front of the room. Her butt, I couldn't help noticing, was large, pushed out at the sides, and jiggled up and down. She collapsed into the chair which had been turned sideways, took a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and spread it on the table. The professor was nowhere to be seen. I walked toward the shared bench and she said "Jackson right?" I nodded "We're supposed to grab one of those papers from the table." I picked one up, found a list of modern artists along with their "School" and walked back. I sat down and felt something crackle through my windbreaker. I turned and saw a note leaned against my chair back. I'd been so busy NOT looking that I'd failed to see it. I unfolded it and read "Meet me after class. Also is that modern art in your pants or are you happy to see me?"

I looked down then over at her. She was grinning.

After class we walked down the hall toward the elevators and she said "Let's head over to the cafeteria." So we did. We took the elevator down to the second floor then the skyway over to the Student Union building. We got Pizza, soda, and jello at the cafeteria and I sat at one of the table which had lost a chair, probably to the crowd of people who were gathered around a table playing games on their phones. I sat and she rolled up. She started "You want to know what is 'wrong' with me. I have spina bifida. You know what that is?" I nodded. I had been a devotee for years without knowing it. I didn't know it for sure at the time. I just knew that I had spent hours on the internet one day with a hard on researching various disabilities. "Well anyway my legs are paralyzed from just above the knees down. I used crutches when I was younger but after Elementary School and distances got longer I got a wheelchair. I gained some weight and didn't work my arms out enough so I got a motorized wheelchair. I still like to use my crutches because they don't require as much tight control as a wheelchair."

She finished and I said "Why me?"

"Because you have been the only person, male or female, not to stare at me for the whole class period. So I think you are attracted to me. Is that so?"

I looked deep into her brown eyes and nodded. She smiled. "Good. Because I'm attracted to you."

The New Job:
Part One:

Julius Vern got out of his five year old Honda and walked up to the apartment complex. He was a CNA with no experience in caretaking. He had worked as a nurses aid for two years in the pediatric unit at a hospital. He had hired on with a private caretaking company. He was paid a small salary to be expanded on commission. He was being sent out for this interview. All he knew was that she was 25, and had muscular dystrophy.

Julius was buzzed in and after knocking entered Condo 111. An alto female voice which sounded like it wanted to talk softly called "Come in it's unlocked!" He walked in, it smelled slightly of very slightly of dirty diapers and cinnamon, sugar, with fresh cut apples. He passed though the foyer with a closet and washer dryer setup on the left and the door to a bedroom on the right. Then he walked into the living area. There was an open living room/kitchen divided only by an island. He could see a private terrace out the sliding door. However he paid no attention to these details because he was looking at the client.

Julius had the assumption built into his head that she would be twisted, deformed and almost anorexic in appearance. Instead he found her propped up in her wheelchair on several pillows. Her head lolled to the left but was stopped by the wraparound headrest. She had brown hair and piercing green eyes. Her mouth was closed although it looked like it was being held up by the trach tube which was almost buried under her double chin. She was wearing a white tee shirt with the handicapped logo on it and "Free Rides" written on it. It had barely perceptible yellow stains in the armpits and across the chest. Underneath the shirt a black bra was rising and falling with the ventilator. She was wearing nothing below the waist but a diaper. Her legs hung lifelessly with fat bulging out as they pressed against the chair. They had no muscle tone at all.She said "I hope you don't mind but I am a casual dresser. Please sit. Do you want anything to drink? Because you'll have to get it yourself.""No thank you. Do you want my resume?""No. I want to find out if we'll live well together. I need 24 hour care so you can live in the bedroom just off the hall. First things first. What did they tell you?""Ma'am?Her face hardened slightly. "Please don't say that ever again. My name is Emma. Call me Emma. Now what did your boss, Steven Calliwell say about me.""Nothing special. He said that he had a potential employer for me and that...""Word for word!"Julius sighed. "He said 'Juls I've got a cripple for you to work for but don't get too attached because she''ll be dead in five years."Emma laughed. "That's really what he said all right!" She started coughing and gasped for a couple breaths until the ventilator caught up with her. She glanced at him but he was registering nothing but concern. "Where did you work prior to this?""The Pediatric Wing at St. Judes.""Alright. I'm going to be serious now. I can't breath, feed, bathe or clothe myself. I can't control my bowels or bladder. I need someone who can manhandle me around this apartment, cook for me, and help me with anything I ask. I watch football occasionally. So now is the time for the resume.""Okay. I can do everything you said. I don't know if you have a g-tube or not but I can care for those too. I can sort of cook, enjoy football and don't mind living in."Emma thought. There was silence in the room except for the ventilator humming. Finally Emma said "When can you start?""Whenever you need me too.""Tonight too soon?""No.""Great. We'll have Pizza for dinner. However before you go can you help me change out of these clothes. They were just to see if you got disgusted by me before we started talking. I can be hard to handle and anyone grossed out by pit stains won't last long when it comes to diapers and my, well, fat folds."Julius thought for a moment as he followed her toward the master bedroom which was located to the left of the entrance and bathroom. Then he said "Am I officially hired or do I need to do probation and training?""My other caretaker walked out on me today the bitch. So I got my brother to come and help me put these clothes on. I'll tell you what to do as we go along."Julius grinned. This could be interesting.
